Why is this thing so difficult for so little calories burned?

Why is this thing so difficult for so little calories burned? I can walk at an incline and burn more calories on the treadmill than the stair master. The treadmill is so much less effort

If the stairclimber is feeling drastically more strenuous you are probably burning more calories on it.
The calorie count these machines spit out are complete nonsense.
If you actually want treadmills/stairclimbers to be effective do not hold onto anything while you are using the machine.

The amount of people I have seen holding a half-dip position or hunching over the screen on these is insane. Why bother using it at all if you're going to cheat?

What do you mean half-dip? They are doing assisted dips

They are basically doing a dip on the side rails of the machine to take their body weight off their legs.

No, but it doesn't require more energy just because it trains a different muscle group.

Every one flight of stairs climbed is one calorie. Just keep that in mind.

I live on a 10th floor and don't use elevator when going up.
How many calories I burn a month if:
    - I have a 9 to 5 job
    - go for groceries daily
    - go to a library 2 times a month
    - running outside 3 times a week
    - go out to do other stuff 2 times a week
    Well, fit?

You climb 880 floors of stairs a month, or 30 floors a day on average. How many calories you burn depends on your pace and your weight.

Probably not as many as you think. Our bodies are super efficient.

A quick search says you burn on average .17 calories per step going up and and .05 per step descended.

Assuming each flight is 12 steps, that’s only 2 calories per flight going up and 0.6 going down. So 20 calories getting to the 10th floor and 6 going down.

So you leave for work, that’s 6 calories. You come home, that’s 20. You go grocery shopping, another 26 there and back. So most days is 52 calories.

      52 x 7 = 364, 364 x 4 = 1456 a month for your job and groceries.

Leaving for the library twice a month is 52 x 2, so 104

      Leaving to run outside 3 times a week is 52 x 3 = 156, 156 x 4 = 624

      Your random going out 2 times a week is 52 x 2 = 104, 104 x 4 = 416

      So 1456 + 104 + 624 + 416 = 2600 calories a month.

It would be a little higher as you assume only 28 days in a month. Not half bad passive weight loss I guess. Like 9 lbs a year assuming everything else is equal

Retard. You're literally engaging more muscle with each step on a stairclimber. Assuming you're keeping a good pace, you should be burning calories at a much faster pace. If it's "harder" you should probably do it.

youd have to calculate your wattage power output. since power output is based on your bodyweight if you are heavy the calories burned become way higher. there is no way around this..if you are putting out 200 average watts that 1000 cal per hour. if you are putting out 100 watts thats 500 cal per hour. the only thing changing the wattage on this machine is body weight and pace.
its not like a treadmill where pace is the overwhelming contributor to wattage and bodyweight doesnt mean nearly as much.

Don't worry about burning calories. Just eat less.

It's to remind all of you foreigners what country you are in so you speak English in public. If there is one reason to get swole it is to beat up or intimidate foreigners when they speak anything other than English.

No. Stairs are fucking fantastic. Burns fat like hell. I only do 2 types of cardio, HIIT sprints and stairs.

    The trick with stairs is:
    1. Don't hold on to anything. Doing it without support is key. Works your abs too, burns more calories.
    2. Long time periods. I like 20-30 minutes on a higher resistance. Your shirt should be wet when you're done.
    3. Feet placement. Taking different kinds of steps works different areas.

      >how to activate glutes on this shit? i lost my ass from all the weight i've lost on this hoe
Yeah me too. I read some shit about using your heel to activate glutes, but never tried it.

"Pro tip: Your stepping form can actually determine whether you're mostly working those glutes or your quads. When you place your foot on the next step, focus on pushing through your heel to stand to activate the muscles along the backs of your legs, explains Velazques notes. "If you push with the balls of your feet, more tension will be placed on the frontal thigh (AKA your quads)."
