I am vegan myself (due to ethical reasons) and tbh, it is kinda hard to eat a lot of protein, especially when you are cutting, the legumes and veggies are heavy in carbs, twp (onions) is kinda nice but still carbs heavy, the only lean sources of protein are seitan, isolate and low-fat tofu. Also the dude in the video definitely doesn't look like he is lifting.
not looking to get into a debate but depending on which ethical reasons we're talking about, have you considered pescetarianism? Wild caught fish isn't factory farmed, and if it's for environmental reasons, allegedly farmed oysters and mussels help clean out waters. Just something to think about
I started as a pesceterian, and now I am a strict vegetarian (but vegan practically). My "ethical" reason is just I am szchizo who feels sad about animals sufferings, fish included. I am potentially ok with backyard eggs and no harm dairy, but don't want to support cruel industrial practices. Also, when I am saying that keppeng high protein is hard, I just mean that it may be not so easy for most of the people, I am ok with it, but I also enjoy cook and bake.
Also If I would like to get animal proteins, I will go for clams, oysters and other bivalve mollusks, as they don't have central nervous system apparently, and cannot suffer.

fair enough, I reckon most vegans probably start out as pescetarians or vegetarians, maybe it was a silly suggestion. I agree that rice and beans doesn't work as a protein source if you're trying to cut, I looked it up for cost cutting purposes and the macros just aren't there. These days I just cook up a pot of beans and have them as a carb with a little protein bonus. They're tasty.
