Its not really the best cardio but great for body control and stability and really hard. Injury risk is pretty high though so i would not recommend it to people who will be miserable if they need to skip gym to heal injuries.
Also its fucking cool.
t: can ollie and shuvit but thats it
no actually
It is you who is the colossal homosexual
And the thing is
Well
The thing is anon
I’ve already won this argument. You have lost
You have lost because
Well….
Because I said so!
I’m sorry!
You LOSE!
And the thing is
You can reply all you want because
Well
Because I just won’t read it! Simple! I’ve won by default! It really is that simple! Suck my cock! lol!
I found skaters to be cliquey and elitist as fuck. More so if you hit the local than travel. Like 50% are super mellow and chill and will talk to anyone. The other half will be super cool until they realise you’ve got no followers and aren’t as good as them. For me it’s the injuries though. You pretty much have to hurt yourself pretty badly to improve. All those small injuries built up. I must have spent well over a year out injured at this point. Busted up ankles, fucked up ribs, torn ligaments. Shit is inevitable. Often on stuff you’ve done 100000 times before
Skating bowls is incredibly intense and if you try it you'll realise how hard it is for any longer than like an hour and a half. It's definitely a good calorie burner but it builds no muscle. I skate and lift weights and I often think that I should just give one of them up because it's so hard to do both and still make gains. Pic related is me, i don't skate any street, just bowls
Yes, plenty, although they are usually the older crowd. Plenty of anti-vax, pro-gun older skater types at my local. The millenial/zoomer ones not so much.
The fuck does it even exercise? You're not the ine that's gonna be moving around, its "goal" should be to do things as efficiently as possible and even what you do strain is gonna be assymetrical. If you like it go for it, but don't treat it as your way if working out.
If you skate bowls you're moving your whole body in a way that it burns like 800 calories an hour.
Only if you're young and you have kept doing it for years. During covid I bought a board at 32 and last time I skated was 16. It was fun but it's hard on your joints by that age and harder to regain all your dexterity. Plus I live in FL and it's way too hot to skate. I picked up playing hockey instead since it's much easier on my joints and it's inside a nice cool arena.

The best shape of my life was skating with friends. It's good cardio and a ton of fun. It's definitely a sport that benefits light weight performers. It builds confidence like no other and it's satisfying to land even the most basic tricks. It's addicting with the proper company and you can go on for hours without realising.
The downside is def the injuries, most detrimental to me is ankle rolling. Try avoiding rolling our ankle by keeping wide-toed stance. Most other injuries can be avoided by proper falling technique, obv benefitted by upper body strength. Falling technique also builds confidence.
>started skating again 3 months ago at 23 after not touching a board after highschool >got commited and started trick-skating >have ollies, 180s+fakie down, working on pop-shuvs and kickflips >every session I sweat my balls off, every session is a grind and workout cause its just jumping and running basically >lost 5 kg on maintenance >best shape of my life, lean and full, cardio went way up >didnt go to the gym or touch a barbell in those 3 months, just pushups and pullups here and there, strenght stayed the same
Yes skating is a good workout and great cardio. Plus it builds your confidence and you look cool.
>caring about numbers
Pushups, pullups and pistol squat numbers are the same. But yes I havent done compounds in a while, but my muscles stayed the same.
He’s a skinny skateboarder anon of course he doesn’t know
I love skateboarding but if im.being honest I wouldn't start again right now. If I didn't learn the foundations and how to Ollie and balance etc at ten years old then it would be a lot harder as an adult
I mostly longboard down big hills early in the morning these days. Almost never see kids skate anymore but there's still signs that say no skateboarding everywhere so maybe zoomers think signs are cops. Idk.
If you're already good at it sure, fine cardio not exactly the most efficient but if you find it fun then yeah it works. If you're looking for muscle? Nah and even if you're a regular gym goer who wants to pick it up? Well I imagine you're gonna have a number of injuries at the start that can hamper your regular gym work so probably not the best.
anyone who skates as a form of excersize is a retard. excersize is a secondary result of skating. Skating is for fun, anf if you didnt get into it as a kid or a teenager then dont even bother, listen to bam margera and just get a bike instead because after a certain age it is impossible to be proficient at it. its something that only makes sense to do if youve been doing it since a very young age and have the muscle memory. If you did start when you were young then never stop skating because thats the only case it would be good exercize, cuz its a fun physical activity and the enjoyment you get from it keeps you “exercizing” and keeps you in shape later in life because you actually want to do it for other reason than fitness. Also guys who “used to skate back in the day” are really fucking annoying, dont be one of those fags. but one of the main attractions of skating is the lifestyle and social scene of it, being able to travel around the world and skate spots and make friends anywhere in the world you go with other skaters. Also skaters typically drink and smoke lots of pot and often do other drugs and shit. All that said, the skate scene has been taken over by trannies, especially the scene where I live, and lots of skate companies do the whole “resist hate” libtard homosexualry that all other normies are consoomed with, but skating has always relied on consumerism so it was always inevitable I guess. Still a shame for all the normal skaters out there to have there favorite thing to do overrun by literal brainwashed homosexuals. Damn shame
>the skate scene has been taken over by trannies
Yep, they've infested the local skate park I used to hang out at.
Usually skate alone or go with only close friends now.
dude you ride around on a wooden plank with die cast hunks of metal screwed to it
just knock one on the head next time theyll all get the message loud and clear and leave for good
It's a sport for dyels. You'll never really see buff guys skateboarding. It's also excessively injurious. Skateboarders commonly get severe bonebreaks and sprains. As well as concussions.
It's fun, just don't be a retard and know your limits. Don't try to ollie a 5 stair on your first month. The more you skate, the more you will become comfortable on your board and progress. Really it's my favorite part of life atm
Fucked my ankle two months ago, still dint fully heal. Also hit the other foot hard and developed plantar fascitis. Dont do ramps if you dont know how to do them. Still i regret nothing.
I had a skateboard lying around and had someone who knows how to skate teach me a bit. It only works out your ankles but its a great cardio. Steep difficulty curve tho so I dropped pretty early.
I like skateboarding but I wouldn't say it's a great workout. It's asymmetrical so one leg and one side of your hip is going to be sore. It will work out your calves but one more than the other. And since you probably do more coasting than pushing you will probably have to skate for hours to break a good sweat.
It's pretty cool, but you will fuck your shit up. Like 75% of the skaters I know suffer from nagging knee injuries. The longer they've been doing it, the more messed up their knees and shoulders are.
>What does SwoleShack think about skateboarding as a form of exercise?
Good if you're teen. Developed really big quads. Good cardio too. But as an adult with responsiblities and a job, a really bad choice because risk of serious injuries is way too high.
Used to skate when i was a teen, but can't anymore because too old, bones will break easily, and because of my job.
It's for homosexuals that use Anthony fantano for music recommendations
You're the only homosexual that knows him
skateboarders are usually quite elitist and into niche music genres, idk what you're talking about
Yeah bro I listen to niche music. You've probably never heard of Tyler the creator, tame Impala, or backseat headrest. Hmmf
Its not really the best cardio but great for body control and stability and really hard. Injury risk is pretty high though so i would not recommend it to people who will be miserable if they need to skip gym to heal injuries.
Also its fucking cool.

yea but i've also not ever seen a fat one, so....
Skateboarders are honestly the most chill and tolerant people, the same cannot be said for tabletop gaming autists.

Excuses. Get cruiser board homosexual. Only trick you need is ollie
it's not.
its barely exercise at all, also skaters are huge fags these days its sad
I lose more weight in 1 hour of skateboarding than in 1 run of 10 kilometers.
The fuck does it even exercise? You're not the ine that's gonna be moving around, its "goal" should be to do things as efficiently as possible and even what you do strain is gonna be assymetrical. If you like it go for it, but don't treat it as your way if working out.

Way better than sitting on this stupid website, but it's more of a hobby than something you do purely to increase physical fitness

fatlard detected

How to say you are dyel without saying you are dyel.
Post body. Or post 1 pistol squat on your dominant leg. You wont baby, go back to you planet fitness and dont forget your milk.
lol ok dyel now you post body
Why the long face?
I used to skate a lot. It's for hard ultra chads. I don't know about modern skate culture but 1998-2006 years it was very based.
If by based you mean meth head retards sitting on their skateboards talking about skinny puppy
I love skateboarding but if im.being honest I wouldn't start again right now. If I didn't learn the foundations and how to Ollie and balance etc at ten years old then it would be a lot harder as an adult

I thought that was a twink for a second then became disappointed.
You guys fucking ruined my brain.
This is the only skater I ever personally knew thus I cannot recommend it.
