Any fellow skipping bros have any recommendations for a skipping rope? After finally breaking my shitty £5 amazon one I wanted to spend a bit more and get nicer/better quality one.

>nicer/better quality one
I have had the same $20 ball bearing one for about a decade now and its great. Don't waste your money on super expensive its all chink garbage now that will break in a couple years anyway.
Just use a fucking rope
Why is the rope required for skipping? Why can't you just jump rapidly on the spot?
I want it to work on my coordination and timing. I'm not sure what OP is up to.
>not sure if serious
bruh
someone answer this for real
Big Jump Rope is hiding the answer so that you Buy Product.
You are going to get bored after a minute of jumping like an autist
Right, but doing exactly the same with the rope is somehow interesting?
False equivalency
> Arms, especially if weighted
Are you fucking kidding me? If you can get bigger arms by SKIPPING you got some problems brother.
> Hand-eye coordination, especially if training for usefulness
right cause in life you constantly need to jump over shit that's right above the ground
>Self defense, especially if a moron jumps you and you want to deal with it like your ancestors would
By jumping over his rope? WTF
A weighted rope will indeed really work your forearms. Try it.
it looks cooler
> why wipe your ass when you can just shake rapidly on the spot
That would not clean your arse
Tell that to this golden retriever
Ill tell it, it fucking stinks like all dogs do
Wow, you're hella cool. Bet you don't need women, just Zyzz right bro haha. They're all whores anyway haha you're way too good for that
Are you telling me dogs don't stink?
I have no problems with animals but they definitly stink. I can walk unto a house and immediately tell if a dog lives there from the smell.
Arms, especially if weighted
Hand-eye coordination, especially if training for usefulness and not dysphoria
Self defense, especially if a moron jumps you and you want to deal with it like your ancestors would
This is the hardest exercise i've ever done. I've experienced the entire bell curve of this shit.
>buy shitty cheap gym rope
>man cannot rebuild himself without pain for he is both the sculptor and the marble
>improve
>decide to take it to the next level and buy crossshitter speedrope
>literally scarred for life
>buy heavier actual rope to jump at slower pacing like the Thais do
Great tool for cardio, endurance and agility, improved my footwork a lot. Get a heavier rope, going fast and doing tricks is cool but it's like ego-lifting.
>scarred for life
From whipping yourself?
youtube is unironically a good place to start. I’d do the beginner moves and keep adding a few every workout and then finish with normal jumping for time
>from whipping yourself?
Yes, hence "literally". You know, when you fail a bench or squat, you rerack or drop the weight and feel relief because you didn't die, when the rope hits you for whatever mistake in form, not only do you feel the dissapointment but you also get the screaming feedback from your skin, it's infuriating, i've broken multiple handles because of this.
i know that feel, last time i did cardio with jump rope, i did it without shoes, and it fucking sucked
I thought I could do it for 15 minutes per day every day. I was wrong.
Just dont stop doing it every day then you will easily be able to do 5 x 3min rounds, calves can take an insane amount of volume
I even run on my toes now instead of rolling
I thought I was a badass going 30 minutes a day using OP's jump rope. Upgraded to a weight jump rope and KICKED my own ass. I could barely go 4-5 minutes without getting extremely winded. Try a weighted rope, feels like cardio and lifting at the same time.

THIS. The weighted rope was my go to during Covid when the gyms were closed.
I broke 3 speed ropes, then decided to try weighted. Weighted ropes crush your ass. They really are cardio and lifting at the same time. Highly recommended.
PVC ones like the shitty amazon kind are the best for just about everything. You can do speed work, tricks, footwork, or even double unders if you want more intensity. Mayweather and most other pro boxers skip with a simple PVC rope
Leather is a good second best IMO and looks pretty based, old school boxers used them I think
I got some for $2AU off ebay about 5 years ago and i still use them twice a week.
I started jumping rope about a month ago. I'm fat but I thought I'd give it a go anyway. I've lost a few pounds. I bought a cheap heavy rope last night. I was thinking of alternating between the two. Use the normal jump rope one day and then the heavy the next day and so on. That first day using the jump rope was humbling and I expect the heavy one to be even worse.
Any good brands you guys can recommend?
Looking for a weighted one.
Serious question: I skipped rope for 1-2 hourse twice a week but it gets really boring... how can it become more exicting?
I watch shows that I don't really care about. the downside is, after doing it for so long, now, my brain is wired in a way that I can't watch shows and not think about jumping rope. it feels like wasting time.
i don't have a tv outside/in my garage lol
but i feel u
split it up into rounds and use a Tabata timer or similar to switch between skipping and calisthenics or weighed moves. I always warm up my lifting routines with skipping with situps to arnold press or plank with pull thorough. Also between exercises in the main sets I take a 5 min break and do 2-300 single unders light speed just to keep heart rate up a bit more.
Last time I tried it, I fell on my face. Fuck this
Ι can literally go forever with a normal skip rope, im talking 1 hour plus.
But if i do heavy rope ( try the ones you tie ships bowlines with) i get rekt after like 10 mins. Also if you slap your feet with one of those you hurt like a cotton picking moron
Pain is good. As long as pain is tolerable, like punches to the face, cold showers and hurt arms, it is desirable.
Well obviously. My go to is low intensity constant pain for improvement. Like when conditioning your shins its better to do 30 mins of heavy bag than kicking a fucking tree 10 times.
