Apart from a bench or tripod, or rested on something, yes it is. What's more stable? Kneeling or some skeletal support standing target position? No way, a good stable squat and your triceps rested on your knees is stable as fuck.

If you're on SwoleShack you obviously have the strength. It's the balance/flexibility you lack. Try draping your pinky finger over a chair, and see how easy pistol squats become. Your pinky's not that strong. It just helps with the balance.

My squat is pathetic. I OHP for 5 or 6 reps as much as I can front-squat for 8, and deadlift more than 3 times as much for 8 reps. I can hardly backsquat at all except with baby weight, the last time I did it regularly it was box squats as well. I only do front and Bulgarian split squats now, any with very little weight. On the other hand I can squat down ATG with flat heels and do Hindu squats and all the rest. My balance and flexibility has always been reasonably good.

-Morning: 20-30 slantboard squats with 2 sec pause at the bottom, focusing on pushing knees/ankles forward and keeping back straight.
-Gym: For leg day on top of usual warmup had to spend like 10 minutes doing various mobilizations for hip.
-Evening: Same as morning, also add pause at the bottom of the slantboard squat for as long as possible.
I can now get somewhere close to full ATG, training squat is at below parallel, but not full ATG(hamstring on calf).
