that's correct, with no pain. look it's not me but i had a great physiotherapist. i was frankly really scared because i couldn't work (was a tradesman) and couldn't support myself, couldn't fucking walk to the shops or anything you know, so my self esteem also took a big hit as i'd gone from a really self-reliant active fit guy to what felt like a cripple.
with 3 months i was back at work laying bricks, but still with weakness. after about 4 months back to boxing and running but with what in hindsight was pronounced weakness. it's gotten better year by year, injury occuring around mid 2019

the takeaway for you guys should be YOU CAN FIX THIS, AND LIKELY WITHOUT SURGERY. get a good PT, identify the problems etc and stick at it with a timeframe of months-years.

idk if that's true man lol. i went back to competing in amateur boxing, working (until i left because of the injury i sustained and a desire to not repeat it) a very hard manual labour job, running etc and then during the covid lockdowns starting to lift weights and squatting 140kg and benching 115kg at 78kg bodyweight. so while these aren't outstanding numbers,i was able to do -new- strength based tasks i wasn't doing previously.

Got deep tissue sports massage, was able to get up again, mobility severely affected, cant bend over, get on my knees to pick stuff up off the floor. Life is get through work, get home, lay down repeat, for a year. Not excercising, because pain and afraid. Get flu again, coughing heavy, every cough feels like its gonna snap my back/left leg. Summer come, feel kinda good, almost able to life leg above my head again, confidence coming back, enjoying life. Winter comes, catch flu, back snaps, immobolized, get massage, able to walk but not much else, hurts to even sit. Am I dying, is this aids? Chiropractor said to put my leg over my knee and pull with hands, put ice after, take pills, kek. My life is very, very fucking sad boys. I want to die. What to do? An hero? Mom will be sad. Im 29 years old.

I posted in some thread yesterday that most chronic pain is psychosomatic. The vast majority of people will not believe this and many sufferers will go years and years trying all sorts of surgeries, supplements, physical therapy, acupuncture, pain shots, yoga, etc. to no avail. The idea is that the pain is created by the mind, a phenomenon similar to a stress headache, in order to repress painful subconscious emotions. The vehement refusal to entertain this notion by most sufferers, even after they've tried everything and suffered for years, is exemplary of the psychological necessity for the symptoms: I have these feelings that must not be acknowledged.

My mom has a C6/C7 herniated disc. A week ago I convinced her to deadlift something around 100lbs for 5-8 reps (she considered anything over 50 too heavy) and she seemed to be okay, should she keep going? Also barbell bench press hurts her because of the shoulder extension but dumbbells are just fine, is it possible to recover from something like that?
