Pizza sauce is just tomatoes, olive oil and Hispanices thats been reduced down. Nothing inherently bad about that unless you go nuts with too much olive oil or just put too much sauce on the pizza in the first place.
As for toppings, get a good cheese (quality mozzarella, parmesan and/or pecorino) as the highly processed shit will force you to dump way too much on to get a modicum of flavor. I was a homosexual and put pepperoni on mine, but just experiment with proteins and veg.
