ASICS 727 because I am a North Korea fanboy
Do you actually use these and would reccomend or just a fanboy thing
I've used a pair of adidas adipowers for the past 5 years and they've done fine
I've had my romaleos 2 since 2014. the hell are you doing that fucked yours up?
romaleos 3 are nowhere near as sturdy sadly. Both tongues are torn and the heels rubber is peeling off all over
I lift in a pair of birkenstocks.
The inner fabric of my Adidas Powerlift 3 is torn but are otherwise fine. Not bad for a 4+ year old shoe that cost me 70 euro.
I don't see any of these modern mesh shoes lasting very long.
I have used Asics 727, Romaleo 2 and the old adipowers.
Adipowers where my first wl shoes, felt great worked great. Sold them after I got a pair Rom 2. Felt better, but heavier. Now I only use my Asics, best of the 3. feel great, work great, look great, last a life time.
If you arent training weightlifting then most "Weightlifting" shoes will do. Reebok legacy 1 I heard where good for squats, 2 are good I heard (I think). Romaleo 4 suck, all new adidas suck, most other shoes are made for CrossFit weightlifting, so they also suck.
Good new shoes are Do-Win and Anta. Rom 2 if you can find them. Asics if you have money and want the best. Broz said that Romaleos are like a Ford, Asics are like a Ferrari.
If you need any other help lmk
thanks man, thats really helpful knowledge. Ill look into the asics. I wasnt aware of them beforehand but knowing most new shoes are built like shit and will be garbage in a few years id ratther spend for some quality
ofc man
Are you doing weightlifting or something else?
i first got romaleos 3 for squats only, but started doing some snatches recently aswell for athletic performance.
i don't know then bro. The Asics are good, but you probably won't feel a difference unless you train in weightlifting. For squats and some snatches/cleans any shoe with a raised heel is fine unless they suck. The Rom 3 is okay as far as I know. Some Korean lifters use them without problems, the main issue is them falling apart. I would say keep the rom 3 for now, if they break buy a pair of do-win or Anta. both a good shoes that will last a long time.
Anta is a copy of Romaleo 2 made by china. (used by Chinese weightlifters, great quality.
Do-Win is also Chinese, cheaper, and comes in variants. I would buy the Pendlay Do-Wins if you can, the normal classic ones are the best as far as I know. (pic rel) China's provisional teams used Do-Win's back in the day. Donny Shankle used Pendlay Do-Wins.
Romaleos 2 or 4.
Everything else is cope.
Romaleo 4 using gay ass
Nope. I use Romaleos 2.
Had them for almost 8 years now. Still just as good as they day I bought them.
Why are you recommending romaleo 4's then? they suck compared to the 2
I have tried the 2, 3, and 4s (mainly because I was recommending shoes to other people once the 2s have gone out of production).
I found the 3s awful. They removed the toe strap (which I loved) and removed the blockiness that made you feel sturdy in the 2.
The 4s pulled a "coke classic" and went back to the solid formula of the 2s. The shoe is actually heavier than the 2, reintroduced the toe strap, and you once again felt glued to the ground.
I still prefer the 2s, and always recommend those first to people. But they aren't as easy to come by in every size/colour since they're no longer produced. As a result, I feel like the 4s are a solid side option that don't skimp on quality as much as the other competitors.
Fair.
I either hear that the rom 4 are okay or that they are total trash.
Most good weightlifters stay with rom 2 for a reason
That makes sense.
You also have to remember, most big name weightlifters didn't start lifting last year. They started lifting in the past 10 years (if not longer). That means they likely got a pair of Rom2s and kept them because they were by far the best on the market. Those lifters have no reason to switch shoes to something that "may" be as good. So of course you won't see Lasha and other big names (that are getting up there in age) only wearing Rom2s.
I suspect we'll see many new lifters using Rom4s, with a handful using Rom2s that they were able to secure while supplies last.
One downside of the 2s is how much of a pain they are to purchase online. The sizing is horrendous on the shoe. I wear a size 10 normally, and wear a size 8-8.5 in my Rom2s. In comparison, the 4s are true to size and are much easier to buy online.
Adipowers work great for me, but generally people with narrow feet go for adipowers and people with wide feet go for romaleos
suprised to see no love for the reeboks. guess i fell for the marketing by even considering them
Reebok legacy 1 are good for squats. Legacy 2 are decent shoes I have heard
Thoughts on these bros? I squat 170kg and I really want to be able to rep 180 for 5 in like a year max. Plus these are cheap and have good reviews online
if you dont have squat shoes currently these will def help you out but more by giving stable ground and hiding mobility issues, not extra power
That's fine by me, I'm just looking for a little help to maintain upright considering I've got a long ass femurs.
I'll have a look at those now, from what I can see they look to be a more competition oriented shoe
The old ones are good. new ones are okay for powerlifting. But i would buy do-wins. cheap and good shoe. 95 from rogue. can prolly be found cheaper
