I've been lifting for years and still haven't even hit 2pl8. It is by far my weakest compound. Am I just not meant for this lift?

Have you tried eating?
how long would it take to get a 2pl8?
My max rn is 77kg
who knows. I got it in like 4 months just by eating protein and adding 5 lbs each week starting at around 160 lbs/73kg x5
I don’t get how people can’t do it after years. either genetic thing, they’re full on skellies ( I wasn’t fat but I wasn’t skinny either, around 165 lbs at 6 ft when I started and now like 178 ) or they’re training/eating like retards
how many times per week did you bench? I bench 4x
I did PPL so two times a week. I would only bench for strength as my main lift (5x5) once a week then on my other push day OHP 5x5 would be my main lift and I’d bench 3x8-12 after it at a lower weight. Every week add 5 lbs to the 5x5 bench
>I bench 4x a week
this board man
you can bench x4 a week fine, but that requires programming he is not doing that isn't relevant at a 77kg max
I bench 6x
it's a combination of not trying hard enough and not eating+sleeping
any man that wants to bench 2pl8 can bench 2pl8, starting point obviously matters for the time frame but that's it, you don't need very advanced programming
you can speed run on an actual PL program (bench x3 a week) or literally just brosplit your way there
maybe you should eat protein and try lifting
Do you train for failure or you just think you train for failure? Also diet like the anon above said. You probably aren't eating enough
Failure is when you literally can't finish the rep btw. I use dumbbells so I don't need a spotter, but you'd need one with a barbell (technically you could slide the weight to the side, but imagine doing that every chest day lmao and especially in a public gym. Fuckno)
>Do you bench press to failure
There's like a million things you haven't tried i bet.
what pic related books do you own? I own all the SS books...all excellent. Looking at grabbing some of the westside books.
Get on a high frequency bench program (at LEAST 3x a week) like sheiko, TSA 9 weeks, smolov jr, candito advanced bench program etc.
I do know that you're just a shitposter craving attention tho so fuck yoi
a 200lb bench is obtainable in 1 yr if you train well and eat. Maybe even 6-9 months if you don't fuck up.
take the press pill and stop benching entirely in favor of working towards a bodyweight and eventually 315, press
>yes stop benching and in stead substitute it for another press that is notoriously harder to progress and even more dependent on body weight
based saboteur
>dependent on bodyweight
cope lad
mate, heard about physics?
refresh me
The further the weight you are lifting strays from your own weight, the tighter the technical thin-rope you're walking due to leverages. If you mis groove a rep too far in front of you, you get cucked by leverages. Literally just putting on +10kg of pure fat helps the lift.
>benches 4 times a week
Lmfao
I prefer OHP as well..mine is weak but its slowly getting there. I microload em...
Ordered a new Rogue R3 rack today. Stoked.
More shoulder injury risk with the bench press. It is explained pretty good in SS book on the "common problems" section of the bench press.
buying 1.25 pound microplates and aggressively adding to my weighted dips (currently at +90lbs for 3x3) along with press starts and push presses after my main pressing sets helped me grow my press from about 135 to currently 165 for 3x3 in a couple months
I'm the same way. Squated 315 for 6 reps, deadlifted 425 for 2, can OHP my body weight (175), 2pl8 chinups for reps. Still can't consistently bench 2pl8.
13 months in gym, got it to 135kgx1 from 60x10. Here is how i did it: 3x10 bench +1 warmup set, 3x10 incline bench, 3x10 chest press; egolifting with a spotter; doing bench once or twice per week as the first exercise of the day; always increasing the weight week after being able to 3x10 on same weight; sleeping 10h; eating at least 100g protein per day; i started taking creatine 9 months in; taking zinc, omega3 and d3 supplements; eating liver twice per month; being consistant for the most pare(not during finals); falling in love with an alt girl that then breaks your heart even tho you only went out with her 5 times why the fuck am i so weak when it comes to girls jesus she was so pretty and smart i fucked it up why was i acting like a stone cold statue; smoking some ciggies as a test boost during a cut
Thats about all i can remember. Hope it helps
22 82kg 180cm picrel me in august, i hit 135kg yesterday
I do pretty much exactly what you did, minus the losing my alt girl part, but the bench still refuses to go up.
i'm a master at creating programs for myself
i never stall
i pity you for not knowing how to go beyond, what a stupid idiot holy shit
I finally benched 2pl8 yesterday for a single, but still felt kinda disappointed because my form was off and my ass lifted off the bench partway through clearing my usual sticking point near the top. Switched to a routine of heavy sets for the next few weeks. Going to strip down 10 kgs from each side and work my way up again, 2 kgs or so a week
