Not him but there are several ways to compare nutritionnal values while the comparison by weight is the standard one, a comparison by calorie is better in other ways for example when someone is trying to meet a nutrient quota while still being below a calorie threshold.
A mix of both should be used for any practical discussion to be had.
In theory the calorie comparison makes sense, but in reality it's nonsensical to not consider the volume of an alternative food you'd have to eat to get as much protein as meat.
In what situation would someone need so badly to restrict their calories that they couldn't eat meat while staying under a healthy limit?
Weight is most useful, as there is a big difference between 1000calories in weight of parsley, and 1000carloes in weight of nuts.
