Is there a legitimate weightlifting alternative to Olympic lifts for explosiveness, or do they still reign supreme?

Is there a legitimate weightlifting alternative to Olympic lifts for explosiveness, or do they still reign supreme?

Notice how I said weightlifting alternative - I already know of plyometrics and the like.

Olympic lifts train 'explosive' power and CNS because that's what needed to be effective at that lift.

But if you assume the perspective of the muscle fibre itself, it has no idea what lift is being performed, it only reacts to the type of contraction

So you can train any lift explosively and reap the benefits of training fast twitch fibres.

yes, true. bench, squat, etc can be trained explosively.

i guess kettle bells could be used as an alternative to barbell Olympic lifts but it would only make sense to do this if the exercise was easier on the wrist

I think a better question for OP to ask is there exercises superior to Olympic lifts for explosiveness?

For what? If you want higher jump, jump squats are surely superior to Oly lifts.

What about a more explosive upper body for punching?

And what about kicking power? I guess jump squats would be superior to Olympic lifts.

Trap bar jumps. Load about 20 percent of your one rep deadlift max and jump as high as you can for 5 sets of 3-4 reps

There's some merit to banded work for power production. The carryover to raw lifting is questionable but athletics and geared lifting really benefit from it. Throwing a kettlebell is good too, tears up your grass tho

Yeah. You can do banded push press too, and trap bar deads are great w bands

    Watch sika strength.

You need to get 2x bw back squat (1.5x minimum) before you start plyometric training. But basically loaded jumps.

You can do plyos with weights, eg. bench throws in the Smith Machine.
