Why are carbs considered bad for fat loss? I thought it was as simple as having a caloric deficit
Have I been memed by CICO shills?

  1. 1 year ago

They are "bad" because carbs make you hold water and by eating carbs you will make your weight fluctuate a lot and you won't see progress in the mirror or on the scale so in general you won't have any idea if your cut is actually working.

Eating normally like humans are supposed to:
      >Pros: gives you the energy you need to get your 20 working sets per muscle group per week
      >Cons: you need to wait longer to be sure if you're actually losing fat

      Keto:
      >Pros: you look leaner because you lost water weight
      >Cons: you have absolute zero energy to do proper working sets after half of workout

Gee, I sure do wonder which one I should pick...

Its not rocket science, human body is not magical cauldron that can create energy out of thin air.

If you have calorie deficit you WILL loose fat end of story. The only reason you don't is because you probably counting them wrong, or you counted your maintanence wrong.

Insulin also tells your body to store excess energy as fat. So higher Insulin levels will make you gain fat faster.

        Anonymous

Fake and gay disinformation. Insulin doesn't tell body to make or store fat, it stores fat without hormonal input via passive cell wall absorption as cell walls are made of fat it slips right through. Notably you can see that in excess fat consumption when insulin resistance happens it is because of fat in cells where it doesn't belong.

Thats half true. Fatties actually have some hormone problems that makes cico less effective.
But there is a major misunderstanding about this.
This does not mean these people became fat because of their hormone problems, but it's the opposite. Their active efforts to disrupt their bodies by retarded amounts of fast food fucked up their hormone levels. Its not that CICO doesnt work for them, it's just that they disrupted their bodies to a part where CICO doesn't work the same way as with actual people.
If they eat less, they still lose weight.

In general, the best diets for weight loss are the ones that rely heavily on one source of calories. That's why you have people losing weight on diets relying on mostly fat or mostly carbs. Personally I prefer carbs because I function better on them and because ketosis is a fasted state that will increase your stress immensely.

the basic function of insulin is the inhibition of lipolysis, it does this long before it translocates GLUT4s
you can't burn calories you don't have access to
    beta oxidation is supply driven
    lipolysis is weightloss

if you want to eat carbs just do OMAD or intermittent fasting or something

Carb chads are for active people that do sports and workout so they use the carbs as energy. Keto is for fat fucks who do nothing but sit on their ass all day and diet. I box 4x a week, and go to the gym twice a week and I eat carbs every single day. My body% is 15 without dieting.

Main fuel for every cell is glucose, for brains so much so it will rather break down heart for glucose than use ketones (main reason for starvation deaths is heart failure despite remaining fat store). It's impossible to do any work requiring brains without carbs. It's also impossible to workout without carbs, it has been proven time and again that when you do heavy exercise lacking carbs, your muscle mass decreases since your body catabolizes muscles for glucose to fuel what remains.

        >The brain's utilization of ketones seems to depend mainly on the concentration in the blood, thus many dietary approaches such as ketogenic diets, ingestion of ketogenic medium-chain fatty acids or exogenous ketones, facilitate significant changes in the brain's metabolism.
        >Most clinical studies examining the neuroprotective role of ketone bodies have been conducted in patients with Alzheimer's disease, where brain imaging studies support the notion of enhancing brain energy metabolism with ketones. Likewise, a few studies show modest functional improvements in patients with Parkinson's disease and cognitive benefits in patients with-or at risk of-Alzheimer's disease after ketogenic interventions.

That's not true. You will not get a reply, I've actually emailed Fung multiple times about that.

Jason Fung doesn't answer because he has no answer. If he replies anything he looks really bad and can be sued for lying about body having no access to stored fat as long as you eat carbohydrates. I looked into the science and there is no point at insulin concentration in blood at which what he says is true. His "fridge/freezer two-compartment energy model" is a total lie. It is.

And what I wrote about body cannibalizing itself for glucose is absolutely true. There is no pathway in digestive path to readily extract glucose from consumed protein and fat. It's completely catabolic and comes from existing soft tissue by breaking down muscles and organs.

CICO works in theory, but in practice it is too complicated. We don't just have a simple stable TDEE number to use as the CO part. There are so many variables like sleep, stress, hormones, activity, the frequency of your meals, the quality of your meals. Especially how much your CI affects your CO makes it just completely pointless to try and estimate so why go through all this trouble? Eat a diet of real food that is satiating. It is very hard to overeat eggs for example but I dare you to try it.

It’s all mental. Avoiding or limiting carbs is often the easiest way to avoid empty and binge calories. Like grabbing a plate of chips or whatever bullshit people do when they’re hungry. Sure there’s also the water weight stuff but more than anything it’s just a good way to avoid things that would normally ruin people’s daily calories

Chips are mostly fat, it's like 70% of their calorie content comes from fat. People are so brainwashed by keto shills they associate fattening fatty foods as "carbs". Like you. You, a fucking gullible stupid retard.

  20. 1 year ago

Because most carbs, due to the amount of sugar they are releasing in the blood, triggers insulin and insulin is a fat storage hormone, preventing weight loss. It doesn’t matter CICO or not, if you have a significant insulin release you will not lose fat.

Nobody said you can’t eat carbohydrates in reasonable quantities when you want to build muscle. We’re talking about people at +20%bf here, they should cut the carbohydrates.

We’re not talking about people with mental illness here thinking being sub 12%bf is still fat and they should use the same protocol as gravity-bending fatties. If you’re in that category, congratulations those posts are not for you.

I don’t understand why it is so hard for people to stop being so fucking binary. One protocol for some people is not the end all be all, the holy answer to everything. If you want to achieve X then protocol A might be optimal. Why are retards trying to transpose protocol A to do Y? Or Z? And then complain it’s not optimal?
