I do too but I think they’re eating my garden but I’m not cold hearted enough to airgun or trap them
I need to outsmart them but they are pretty clever and will outthink you in interesting ways
Not him but possums remind me of this old hobo I met back in 2006. At first you look at him and he looks like a scary fuck that'll stab you, and then you talk with him and he's a really nice and friendly guy that just never found his niche in society. He had three cats that followed him everywhere and he just lived by digging through trash. I couldn't tell if he was white or latino, he was like a mass of burnt wrinkled leather dressed in rags and his voice was all fucked up so his accent could have been from literally anywhere. Every time I see possums I think of that guy, and the little babies trailing behind as his cats.
One time I kicked an opossum in the head at night running on accident and thought it was a cat so I reached down and touched it with my bare hand to see if it was okay and about lost my shit.
They’re harmless and are as dangerous to touch as any wild animal
You wash your hands you’re ok
They can’t get your scent off and this can cause them to die by ostracism or predation
So touching them is worse for them
They will cross a road slowly as well so if you run them over you’re a powerless loser
They don’t cary disease
That’s hick fairytales
Yeah it was more the shock of putting my hands on a wild animal that can be unpredictable, it's rare that possums bite but they can and the wounds can be nasty.
Don't possums also eat ticks? And one reviews bad movies on YouTube too, he's a blast.
*invades you*
I've seen a few of those fucks in my backyard. Cute, but they eat your lawn and shit in it, which can get annoying. But on the other hand, it's funny to watch a bunny just slump over and lazily eat your grass.
so many of them just die shitty deaths all over the streets and front lawns around here kids cry and I wasn't happy either the first time I saw it but after a while it's just inconvenient it's something that smells bad along your run or you have to make sure not to step in it
On my normal running route there's a barn owl. He's usually sitting on a branch above 5 feet away from the trail. A few nights ago there was a frog on the path and it swooped less than 2 feet in front of me to grab it. Shocking how unafraid of people it is, but a privilege to see him on my run!
It’s pretty smart considering a lot of predators notice changes in movement and don’t see in the same spectrum as humans
People are also like this they notice changes in movement in an environment before changes of color for example
Both depends on the rate of the change
A quick color change that clashes with the background is noticeable
But a slower change and slower movement is not
I was running on a trail turned a corner and a moose was there. Definitely the scariest experience. I saw a bear on two different occasions when hiking but they were further away
groundhogs, rabbits, bats, geese, skunks, not too many racoons I live out more in the suburbs they have more of them in the city they're called trash pandas.
I also just like to listen to birds and crickets and the sounds of summer, I run with music but then I walk back listening to nature (and cars and lawnmowers)
My sister had a friend, growing up, who had a pet raccoon. Wickedly clever, used to steal cigarettes and drink from soda bottles. It was adorable. Until it learned how to use his step-dad's lighter and burned half their living room down.
I nearly ran into a rotting armadillo. Fuckers are always getting run over in my neck of the woods.
I've also met a male ginger tabby a few times back while running. He's been given a better home as of now, but he was a friendly big boy to give neck scratches.
All you gotta do is stick to the left side of the road and get a cheap reflective worker vest. Then if you get hit, you've done everything you need to sue that fucker for everything he's worth.
One of the local nature trails in my city had one of it's entrances right next to my old apartment complex. I've had deer get within spitting distance of me and I've seen foxes and beavers before. The deer always spooked me since they would get right at the edge of the trail and they can be kinda big sometimes. The beavers were neat since they dammed up a small portion of the creek. I'll be moving away from downtown and back to the apartment complex in about a month which is neat. I especially liked walking through the woods over there during winter when it's all covered in snow.
I once saw a cat desperately chasing a rabbit while I was out walking at 4 in the morning. They passed just a few inches from me, both too focused on their own survival, predator and prey, like a Serengeti in miniature.
>Driving to the gym >Excited to get a good workout in >On the way there see a poor critter that's been run over >Day ruined
Why is life so fragile bros?
a yeah ago i was biking in a rain storm and was at the bottom of my hill when i saw two deer on the other lane. i started yelling at them to get them to move, one ran the correct way and the other one ran right into my lane. I was going over 30 mph in the rain and the deer passed by so close in front of me it could hear and see its hooves. if i was a second faster it would have t-boned me
Fucking coons. Lazy fucks do nothing but sleep all day and then steal my shit all night. I’ve had it with these fucking coons and got my gun license. Next time I see one on my property is BLAM BLAM BLAM is ya know what I mean.
Rattlesnakes wild donkeys, coyotes, black bears, seals, big ass tortoises, saw a mtn lion but it ran from me and my dog fast af prolly got scared of the gangsta rap playing out of my phone ( helps alert wild animals ) tons of ocean life tide pooling with my dog in cali now i just see washed up jelly fish
i see roadkill on the way to the gym every other day.
it's not wildlife however, just stray cats or dogs.
usually bloated or dried up from the sun
must be agonizing to be a small mammal and just get your shit completely fucked up by a very fast
1kpound to 500kilo metal traffic
ur mom
Raccoons are based and I love them. They’re my furry little friends
I do too but I think they’re eating my garden but I’m not cold hearted enough to airgun or trap them
I need to outsmart them but they are pretty clever and will outthink you in interesting ways
You can live trap them but be careful releasing them they aren't as cute when they're mad.
Yea you risk them fucking you or them up in the process considering they are scared of instakill, trapping always has an element of risk
I have a perimeter of comfrey, I've also seen anons who put thorny branches around the base of the plants. All non lethal and have secondary uses
This you?
good thread
saw a bear once running on a logging road. didn't get a picture unfortunately. was decently far too.
wow those are very well behaved. I'm pretty sure each one got one hot dog before anyone got two
its has rabies
bears make it to my damn backyard and i dont even run. i use the exercise bike.
yesterday i saw a possum and last week i saw a coyote but mostly i just see rabbits (i only go out at night)
Anon, how would you describe the character of possums? And if you see a race reflected in them what would that race be?
Not him but possums remind me of this old hobo I met back in 2006. today i saw two turtles, in the past i've seen a fox
I once went on a safari trip in Tanzania. Some zebra ran through our camp while we were doing some yoga stretches on out porch.
I always get a smile when I see a friendly dog look up at me.
Albino squirrel was pretty cool
Yes, hogs, deers, raccoons and foxes

so many fucking coyotes, i see them almost every time i run at night and it freaks me out
I once had a staring contest with a deer when I was biking through the woods as a kid. I got pretty close to it too before it decided to leave.
Deer are fucking retarded. They just stop and stare instead of running.

Yes foxes, guess my country
Rabbits.
I live innaswamp and see all kinds of animals pretty much every day. Alligators, eagles, bobcats, raccoons, snakes, turkey, you name it.
I see squirrels, foxes, martens, cats, dogs, deer, raccoons, rabbits and hares, all sorts of fancy birds.
Middle of a city btw
Why are you running?
I once shit myself because I was too far from home to get to a bathroom and when I went into the woods there was a groundhog
I was running on a trail turned a corner and a moose was there. Definitely the scariest experience. I saw a bear on two different occasions when hiking but they were further away

Foxes and moose.
Wish they were domesticated
My sister had a friend, growing up, who had a pet raccoon. Wickedly clever, used to steal cigarettes and drink from soda bottles. It was adorable. Until it learned how to use his step-dad's lighter and burned half their living room down.
I used to live near a nature preserve and I'd go jogging there.
Saw armadillos, possums, coons, and assorted squirrels and birds.
Now I live in the middle of a city and it sucks.
I saw a turtle a few weeks ago and lifted it across the street so it wouldn't get hit
Then a couple of days ago I saw a very pretty feral cat that kept baring its teeth and meowing at me
Then last night I saw a bunny in someone's yard
followup pic on turt
Oh shit and a skunk
Here's a chipmunk I saw on one run, I had never seen one before so it was pretty cool
>I had never seen one before
Where are you from? There are fucktons in the northeast
Man I love turtles, they're so cute
based and irwinpilled
Based turtle bro, i save worms on the sidewalk and put them on cool grass
Really though most of the time I just take pictures of the landscape when I'm jogging
I nearly ran into a rotting armadillo. Fuckers are always getting run over in my neck of the woods.
I've also met a male ginger tabby a few times back while running. He's been given a better home as of now, but he was a friendly big boy to give neck scratches.
Some nice wetlands
Black people
I saw a pheasant on my way to a hiking trail, which was also the first and only time I've seen one
And here are some parrots in trees
I'm from south Florida but I was in Vermont for a few months for work
Other than that, the only "weird" animal I run into on a regular basis is Howard and that's because she lives in my backyard
picrels are called Loicas. Pretty cool bird. See them from time to time when I jog.
Shit, forgot pic
>go on a run
>get ran over by a car
>blammed for being in the cars way
this is what would happen if I attempted to run in my area.
>blammed
Are people still using newgrounds? I thought it would have died after Adobe ended support for Flash.

I kicked a rat running in nyc. Ended that run immediately and got out asap

Lots of neighborhood cats. I plan my route to say hi to them all.

Australian possum
Don't have a pic, but I have seen a couple deer.

Wasn't while running but I saw a cool frog on vacation
