I just started lifting two weeks ago and my back really hurts from deadlifts. Should I just stop working out till it feels better?

Definitely rest. There's nothing better for the muscles, tendons, and joints than rest. Ask any world-class bodybuilder if they could achieve their peak physiques without rest. Every single one of them will say, "Yep! Rest is *vital*." Arnold even scheduled his rest days every. Single. Week.
Rest is, arguably, more important than exercise itself. I've been thinking about a rest-only workout schedule. It's a little tricky to fit it in with my work schedule, though.
Deadlifts are a meme. DYELs like them because it lets them load a lot of a weight with minimal skill. And then you tweak your knee or back.
If it the barbell deadlift isn't a part of your sport, you should use other hamstring and back exercises - and, if you insist on DLing, do it with a hex bar.
The risk-reward isn't really there for non-powerlifters.
OP, don't listen to this homosexual, always know your game. Follow science not bros.
Dl is the best lift for growing big. It is proven and there are many meta studies.
Fix your form and no ego lifting.
Don’t do deads, these cunts want you to snap your back, and yeah you should rest for a bit
Dead lifts shouldn’t hurt your back. Yes, rest, then get someone who knows what they are doing to check your form.
Without realizing it, I was shrugging my shoulders at the lockout of the deadlift. Made it all the way to 350 lbs doing that. A kind, experienced lifter told me and spared me a bad injury. Just ask someone who looks like hey know what they’re doing. Most of the time they’ll be happy to help someone new and give good advice.
YES
Next time you lift start off with way less weight and pay attention to your form. You can even post a video here and homosexuals will laugh at your shit form.
Why are you doing deadlifts as a beginner? Who the fuck told you to do that? Go look for some bro split workout.
let me explain, you will literally gain nothing from doing deadlifts, unless you are competing. You are way better off doing anything else.
Just don’t workout what’s sore so it can heal
Don't do deadlifts unless you wanna compete in powerlifting. It's a nice exercise on paper if your form is perfect (it's not). The risk/reward ratio is shit.
What? I thought it was one of the best exercises to do! Always heard people saying they improve posture, activate your core and target both your back and your legs. What the fuck
You came to the wrong place to ask for deadlift advice. This board is absolutely infested with anti-deadlifters.
Powersharters aren't people, and plenty of them quit after they tweak their back or twerk their knee or get a hernia. If you want to look good naked and be healthy, you're better off picking up running or cycling, and doing a brosplit.
>back really hurts from deadlifts
stop doing deadlifts for heavy reps until you fix your form.
It's going to. This is why most people only Deadlift like once a week, and usually far lower volume than other lifts.
just lower the weight, dum-dum
>Should I just stop working out till it feels better?
just stop all together, lifting isn't for you. at least you tried?
>Deadlifts are the absolute best lift you can do to fix back pain, posture, basically anything to do with your back, spine, and even hips.
uhhh actually that would be high bar atg squats. diddlies are a good exercise, but there are better movements you can do for back pain and posture.
Front squats have an ever better effect on posture imo because of how upright you have to be.
