Yea there's hard science that sleeping is necessary, no matter what some retard who tells you they can"function" on 6 hours. It's simply what happens without the brain being able to direct and restore the body to the best of it's ability .. Simple as fuck to understand...
i think the best thing to do is just listen to your body
i have days where i wake up early and feel that i need more sleep, and other days where i wake up at the same time feeling fully rested
if i try to get 8 hours every single time i end up feeling lethargic, same with if i try to cut it short daily
Realistically you wouldn't be able to sustain such a small amount of sleep long term without someone forcing you to wake up. After a week or two you'd just find yourself passing out and not waking up for 12+ hours.
Even worse if you don't sleep enough then your body will start to "micro sleep" which means you lose consciousness for a few seconds without realizing. Not a great thing if you operate vehicles or machinery. Oh and lack of sleep long term is also associated with Alzheimer disease, cancer and all kinds of other negative health effects.
I usually sleep 10+ hours. Usually 12+. I'm a college student who prefers sleeping through days where I don't have class, in order to get to next day faster. It makes time for by faster which means I'm getting my degree quicker. I usually sleep 30+ hours from Monday night to Wednesday morning so I skip my non class days on Tuesday and Thursday...
You're supposed to use non class days to do your coursework or other things that will improve your grades.
If your grades are already top tier then at least do something fun.
My grades are top tier, I study from 7am-12am on days I have class. Then I sleep 24 hours to skip a day. I don't need to work because my tuition and rent is payed for by my parents.
I can sustain 5 - 6 hours of sleep during the week, which is sometimes necessary because I'm self employed, bit when it comes to the weekend I tend to catch up with 10 ish hours.
Most people need an average of 7-8 hours and you'll accumulate a sleep debt if you get less than that which you eventually need to repay
>oh god, here comes fucking mister sandman with a fucking crowbar, I have sleep debt, I never paid him for that dream he brought me >OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK

If you want to grow muscle, it's as important as food to get lots of uninterrupted sleep.
If you just want to survive, you can get by with 4 or 5 hours.
i literally want to kill myself if i dont get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. people who brag about sleeping 4-6 hours a night are retarded

I wake up after 4.5 hours whether I set an alarm or not. Some people just don't need that much sleep.
That's caused by a genetic mutation, but it's only a tiny % of the population.
