severe starvation on a photoshoot safari. our food was contaminated with dirty water when we drove through deep water with a snorkle the jeep hit a stone and flooded rapidly. I always do body weight exercises and I was liberal with my food at first but I got very sick from eating it and could not maintain a healthy diet. Eventually I grew so weak I was unable to stand due to malnutrition and my joints started wobbling like I snapped them when that wasn't the case. As soon as I got back home and ate right I got fat but it healed after a month.
never lifted past failure
never worn wraps straps or belt
never attempted 1rm
never done a 5 rep set
never looked up strength metrics
NEVER gave a shit about gay numbers
NEVER approached snap city
ummm....ESCXUSE ME sir don't you see it says SCIENCE in the link? don't you believe in SDCIENCE?!

"Science" is a collection of methodologies for critical analysis. Science doesn't say what is and is not true, science is the process by which we measure and quantify the world. A blind reliance on "science" ignores that our understanding of the world is mutable, and can change in the blink of an eye.
Also any jackass can say science in their blog title. So much of the "fitness industry" claims to be "evidence based" while skimming journal abstracts and using vocabulary they barely understand to baffle the consumer, and trick them into thinking they are smarter than they are.
>tweaked back front squatting last week >tweaked back deadlifting last year >both times recovered full strength within 5-7 days >strained hip flexor maybe 3 years ago back squatting (too much Michael Jacksoning the bar up, got me to finally fix my knee position), recovered from that within like 3 days
That's about all I can remember.
Probably it was overuse. I really felt like I could squat 200kg on Christmas day if I upped my volume, so I went from squatting 3x a week (and deadlifting 3x a week) to squatting 4x a week and deadlifting only once.
I refused to accept that I was actually injured and kept trying to do the same training which lead to me re-aggravating it many times over. Even to this day I can still kind of feel my back, even if I haven't suffered any re-aggravation since last year the thought is always on my mind. Low back is always more of a bitch than any other injury so you have to take it seriously when it happens
Squatting too much isn't an issue itself; only if you aren't prepared for it. Some people squat everyday and they're fine. They've just worked up to it
did the exact same thing with shoulders.w anted to hit 2pl8 OHP before the end of the year. so started doing shoulders 4 times a. week, heavy everyday. felt like a god for a few months till both my shoulders just fucked the fuck up.
>be me, 14, just got arrested and depressed >older bro starts taking me to the gym >find SS, getting sick gains thanks to really hitting puberty at this time as well >making stupid progress, get to a 315 squat for 3x5 >The grind from 300-315 felt really hard, but I did it by adding 5lbs each session as the program calls for >Honestly nervous for 320, but think "its only 5lbs more" >Crush the first set >Crush the first few reps of second set, last two become bit of a grind >no biggie, ill rest more, shoutout papa rip >hit 3 reps just fine >4th rep go down >left hip shoots in the direction of my right knee >completely crumple to the ground >saved by safeties >back fucking kills >go to bullshit chiros for awhile "its ur thurocolumbar fascia!" >wtf is that shit >have back pain all through highschool if I sit with bad posture long enough, car rides suck, etc >now 25 and still get random phantom pains in my back
Still lift, though there have been long bouts where I quit lifting in those 10 years. Current routine is 5/3/1 BBB with a few modifications. Thankfully my back is good, but I'm still a pussy when I squat. Shit mentally scared me tbh
For some reason a lot of people have an incredible tolerance for permanently damaging themselves when it comes to lifting weights. I doubt you'd get into a car with someone who routinely crashes every few years leaving serious injuries with the passengers, why do it with the gym when there's literally zero need for it.
>never came close to snap city on squats >squat highbar ATG, no belt, no sleeves, never ever wraps >constantly push to failure >run programs where I squat 5x a week often
The only time I snapped my shit was ego lifting, a sumo deadlift. 2015, 635# no belt @ 187# bw. I was in PT and rehab for months kek
Science is just one method of understanding the world. If you want to manage a football team you don't get a bunch of scientists and say science says this guy should play here and do this. While science may play a significant part in professional sports nowadays, it doesn't have all the answers, especially with how corrupt it is these days.
I've failed reps before but I always have the safety pins so I never snapped myself
One time I failed racking my bench and it slipped towards my head but I got out of the way in time

Belts make things safer
false. no belt forces you to work your core and humbles you enough to progress slowly.
Wrong.

I'm not that guy, but I lift beltless/strapless/wrapless and am progressing well and safely, have never had an injury.

Superphysiological bruh.
>Superphysiological
Erm, it's "SuPRAphysiological", okay?
Crying laughing face... three times
Yikes. You must be older than 18 to post here
I'm 22. What about what I said implies I'm underaged?
never lifted
Never tried
Never allowed yourself to be passionate about a hobby
Never had any reason to go to a gym at all
NEVER made gains
Never found my limits
Never lifted the correct amount of weight
Never got a real pump
Post body
Weird that you're bragging about never putting in effort but go off I guess.
never lived
>never lifted past failure
how can you lift past failure?
>how can you lift past failure?
You have your loved one help you do the rep, or just let it crush you mid way through, either works really.
I have scoliosis so i'm living on the edge of snap city every time i squat or deadlift, and i squat and deadlift all the time
jesus, you ever thought switching out deadlifts or squats?
No
Didn't do Grant any harm
This is my thinking behind doing them, if others with more severe scoliosis did them, then i can do them too
He monke
me too, combined with a hump, I don't even think about it, just stretch
Scoliosis is the only reason this guy's a good lifter. It's like your superpower til you spinal yourself.
I had rhabdomyolysis, vomited then pissed brown and shat yellow during a week

Squatting took me to snap city in December of 2020
Didn't start training again until April this year
How much weight?
Was a single @ 165kg
what advice do you have to share? what mistake did you make?

thanks for sharing bro, i probably need to back off of squatting so much too.

snap city isn't real pussies
Never, because I actually utilize the power rack properly, with safeties.

do you still lift? what's your routine like?
Still lift, though there have been long bouts where I quit lifting in those 10 years. Current routine is 5/3/1 BBB with a few modifications. Thankfully my back is good, but I'm still a pussy when I squat. Shit mentally scared me tbh
I used to do sl 5x5 and just willed myself through the sets. Up 5lbs each workout and made it to 275 5x5 in my home gym till I ran out of weights.
One time I fucked up my breathing and I blacked out on the way up.
Couple years later I let my low back fatigue get too high and damaged myself. Now I get the tingles in my feet.
Now I do front squats, and make sure to do proper deadlift form and it's all good.
Sounds good anon.
