Whats the catch SwoleShack?
hammer strength rows will blow up your back
best machine and the only one im using
Are hammer strength rows better or equivalent to this?
The hammer strength row is better in my opinion. Not that much better, though.
damn i havent seen one of those since i worked at the Y in high school. forgot it existed. awesome piece of equipment
how does one perform this exercise without losing their breath? my diaphragm is always getting crushed and its hard to catch my breath after 5 reps
Not sure. The one at my gym you can adjust so its not pressing in the wrong spot. Also I arch my back a little, not leaning over the pad.
If it's T bar chest supported row, then yes. I personally prefer hammer strength rows since I can work my back harder without my lower back being the limited factor.
How does it fuck up your lower back?
have you ever done this exercise with anything above 55 kgs?
nta
yes, regularly, never felt any discomfort in any part of my body and I'm literally a 140lb dyel
I can do it with nearly 90kg or so at like 76kg bw, strict form.. never once caused me lower back pain and I have a diagnosed herniated l4 from 3 years ago. You keep your core tight and shoulders back, and contrary to popular belief, don't do a rowing motion like on the cardio machine causing your upper back to round.
anon, can you please link me a youtube video with the form you're talking about?
This is incredibly similar to how I do them. Normies and zoomies on tik tok preaching to use a little momentum, but I don't.
Aside from chest supported rows, cable rows give me the LEAST amount of strain in my lower back. Not sure what the fuck you're on about.
Jesus Christ way to out yourself as a weak homosexual. I bent over row 315 and cable rows are literally fine. Just because your back isn’t developed enough to maintain a strong mind muscle connection doesn’t mean everybody else is as weak as you.
Have you ever done it with good form?
Do you have a normal posture?
If you don't, then you'll have some form of back pain no matter what you do (not necessarily lower back pain)
>t. someone with kyphosis/lordosis working to fix posture to end upper/middle back pain
I get lower back pain when doing back extensions, and yes, posture is fucked.
Try to diagnose what your problem is and work to solve it. If necessary, see a doctor.
Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that the usual compounds (back squats, standard deadlifts, bench pressing, OHPs, barbell rows) only partially solved the problem, but are not enough. If you have kyphosis (hunchback) then add exercises from Neanderthal No More (or do the program itself, it's up to you) to your workouts, I've noticed some progress doing the GPP exercises on rest days and adding some extra accessories from the program and elsewhere (snatch grip deadlifts, cable rows, straight arm pullups with a wide grip, will probably add front squats too at some point). Also, do some pec stretches
And you will probably need to lower the weight when doing deadlifts, I didn't realize it but I was rounding my upper back way too much and had to lower it 40 lbs, and maybe will have to take even more weight for now. My back at least hurts a lot less.
But above all, see a PT so you'll learn how to stand straight. And by this I mean what the cues you need to learn are, this should be a single session thing if you've been lifting for a while. It will make getting form right a lot easier.
Oh, and I also do face pulls
All heavy weightlifting "fucks you up".
No risk, no reward.
>tattoo
Disgusting bitch, hard pass
No one cares homosexual.
learn to brace and actually activate your muscles retard
Just do regular barbell rows and stop being a pussy
Its the safest row you can possibly do except for chest supported rows you're a fucking retard also I want to kiss this woman's lats
dude i even lean forward to stretch my lats the way charles glass tells people to and rows feel fucking amazing on them. fucks up your lower back? sounds like that happens to people with weak lower backs ego lifting. not my problem. keep your back from being rounded, hinge at your hips, keep your chest out and shoulders back, just focus on your kinetic chain through the movements with a weight you can do safely and you dont fuck your shit up.
Seated cable rows are fucking garbage once you approach bodyweight. Chest supported rows are much better especially done while standing
you're retarded, kys
If it "fucks up your lower back" your form is complete dog shit. Seated Cable rows remove low back from the equation entirely, like chest supported rows.
>OP's doing weighted rows like he's on a concept 2
All the zoomies at my gym do this. Similarly they like to engage their entire upper body for lat pulldowns.
it doesnt fuck up your lower back. It utilizes your erectors, which can feel fucked if they are weak.
Before you start doing lifts like barbell row and cable rows you should have a decent deadlift already.
at least 3plate, until then do pulldowns.
I found out that it hurts my back if I try to have a strict form, ie sit straight.
When I bend backwards a little bit it doesn't cause me and pain in the lower back
>engage core muscles
>don't hyperextend
perfectly safe now
>lots of safer alternatives available
How are cable rows less safe than other types of rows?
I really only do bentover rows, but what the fuck? Cable rows are a quick alternative, you just pin the weight on the stack so you can warm it up without changing plates, do drop sets quick, whatever the fuck you want if you're retarded, how is it unsafer than any other exercise?
cable rows are perfectly safe if you keep your core engaged, but I think OP means chest-supported rows and other upper back exercises that don't load the lower spine.
>complains about this exercise fucking up your back
>does freeweight squats
Bait
You're not supposed to load up the cable pulldown or cable seated row with lots of weight, they're pump/finisher lifts
You'd have to have shit genetics if you get injured on a rowing machine
Disgusting neck tattoo, of course. I'm sure that dream catcher holds deep meaning to her.
can confirm this is shit for lower back, i used to do this and sometimes it´s hard for me to sit long hous in airplane or in my office seat.
You sure it was that? Might've been all the butt poundings you've taken, fag.
