Use a TDEE calculator, set it for sedentary, eat that amount with at least 120g of protein, and lift, if you're new go for a strength program like stronglifts and stick to it until you plateau then move on, by then you should know enough to adjust

do 8-12 reps, once you can easily do 12 with that weight add 5lbs or whatever kgs and start over, repeat until strong, it's not that hard

Physically not being able to move the weight anymore, its a far more objective way of telling if you work out enough rather than when you "believe" your form goes to shit
Raise the weights, go to, or 1-2 reps from REAL failure, and dont be afraid of a smaller rep range, and see how it works out
