I can bench heavy but leave 1-2 reps on the table, lifting to failure is when you're doing that last rep and you think you're gonna die because your muscles are literally failing.
depends on your lifts. if you only do heavy compounds with minimal or no accessory lifts then yeah you cant go to failure every single time but doing only one major compound followed by a bunch of accessory lifts to failure is sustainable even for natties without frying your cns over time.

deadlifts are literally just lifting wrong, there are people who lift 50 pound boxes every day with their back and develop skeletal issues. Sometimes you're going to need to use your back when lifting and it's good that it's strong when you need it, so just use a lower back machine and don't fuck up your spine.
i do 1-3 sets of deadlifts after backsquats to end "leg day". i can squat so much bro its crazy, bw 205 1rm 403. all i do is hamstring curl machine @ a really light weight to unlock hams, then i do backsquats for tons of reps. lets say 20 sets. then i do one set of deads at a pretty high weight maybe like 275 or 365 and just try to hold it really strict. right now squatting mondays and fridays and competing in a jumping sport mondays and saturdays
