I would think closer handed pushups like diamond pushups would be worse. I feel like more weight gets transfered to my chest when I widen my hands

Oh I've been doing it for a while but I purposely don't go to failure with it tbh . The day after I dont have pain .
point your hands perpendicular from your torso. It relieves a lot of the pain people get in their shoulders
