>nooooooo bodybuilding didnt exist until israeli americans started a federation to control it
fuck off even in the israeliteSA bodybuilding was around since the late 1800s
>fuck off even in the israeliteSA bodybuilding was around since the late 1800s
Yes but the first person to use the term "bodybuilding" was Eugen Sandow, himself of israeli origins.
Bodybuilding is an ugly sport and really had been when obvious roid monsters like all of these guys became the standard. Zane and Mentzer, many others had some admirable philosophies. And I won't lie and say what guys like Arnold (even more so outside of the sport) and Dorian Yates achieved wasn't impressive. But in the future, if health and beauty win in the end they will drop terms like bronze era, silver, golden to describe these decades. 100 years from now they will view this event in particular as the beginning of the dark ages of the sport, going off the rails some time after the 50's.
Agreed. Professional bodybuilding honestly grotesque these days. There was a brief window (mostly in the pre-Arnold Zane era) where it was okay, but it has since evolved into a repulsive mockery of human beauty.
Amateur bodybuilders are, on average, better looking than their professional counterparts.
>in the future we are going to return to classical high iq beauty standards
Anon this might just be the most delusional post I’ve ever seen on this board
>in the future we are going to return to classical high iq beauty standards
maybe after the collapse.
that said, we never got back to quality ideals of the greeks and romans after the dark ages.
Brecker and other funny mustach era artists weren't trying to go back to antiquity but progress from it. There isn't a tragic element to his sculptures like there often was in the best of stuff from antiquity. He used high level athletes for models such as these and his work is more abstract than what Bernini and Michelangelo were going for. Brecker's work was to be intentinally brutal and defiant, powerful and without remorse for being so.
With that said I think stuff from the high middle ages and Renaissance through to the very early Romantics was more soulful than art from antiquity. But all Romantics and great artists after Beethoven basically were misguided for reasons Nietzsche went into great detail about. Some great art is still being made in the world even in sculpting.
Her refers to Beethoven multiple times, in The Birth of Tragedy and Genealogy. But I think this excerpt I found a couple years ago on a forum from a work called Untimely Meditations is one of his best takes on Beethoven, Wagner and music: https://www.talkclassical.com/threads/nietzsche-on-beethoven.60641/
>funny mustache man tried, I guess.
funny moustache man wasn't trying to preserve/create a "genetically superior"race nagger, the holocaust wasn't real. Funny moustache man was doing his standard war for standard purposes
I was talking about the art. Same with the architecture - he was trying to make a modernized (and not in the gay modern art method we see today) version of everything that was good about the classics.
And sure, it never happened, but I want it to happen again.
Bodybuilding is gay and effeminate, you can't change this.
The only reason men like it, is cause bodybuilders shave their body and act girly for money, so in our brains they are just like whores we wanna fuck.
As a repressed bisexual, I am fine with that. All the focus on pushing through pain for the pleasure of a better physique makes it seem like an S&M subculture. Men, women, it doesn't matter as long as they are big and roided. I love to see it and want to become that myself one day.
All of the sponsorships, etc. just subsidize the fetish for the competitors and spectators.
I know that powerlifters consume massive, massive amounts of drugs - still, it seems more honest - it's about moving the weight, not what people think will look good
Is it me or is this controversy WAY overblown? There are plenty of pictures where Arnold absolutely mogs mentzer. Mentzer easily had the most distended stomach of the top guys. Colombu winning the next year was an absolute travesty though, with gyno and a fucked up leg. Still a great guy though.
If you go mandatory by mandatory Arnold should be placed about 8th. Bill Pearl, an official judge that didn't judge that year because his pupil (Chris Dickerson) was competing, said so. It was the biggest booing contest of all Olympias, even worse than Franco. Zane, who is usually coolheaded, broke his trophy.
So anon, yes, it was a steal, if you can't see why bodybuilding is not your sport go back to your instagram fake natties.
Just look up as much footage of the 80 olympia as you can find, even though there is very little.
Mentzer lost because Arnold (amongst others liked better than him). He sperged out and spent the rest of his life seething that he was cheated and anons like OP that don't know anything about bodybuilding got psyoped.
>Men present themselves before male judges and try to flex and pose in underwear and makeup to make themselves as attractive to the judges as they can then the males judging them rate them on a 1-10 how much they wanna bang them
Bodybuilding is cringe.
Who gives a fuck about looking like the warped perception of manliness that homos have?
So much for the "bronze age mindset" yet you don't care about being a "fit warrior".
A lot of it is water bloat, and more glycogen being stored directly in the muscles. A significant amount will be real muscle growth though. They tend to eat a lot more food to fuel the increased muscle growth i.e. they will fill up with shit and also gain fat
The short term (roughly 1 week) weight gain isn't real muscle. That comes later
Arnold should have won in 80. Watch Total Rebuild. He is better than every guy on stage. Most people go off pictures and not video. When in poses and comparisons he beats Mentzer even in his 80 shape. If it was his 74 shape it would have been laughable. Now Franco in 81 was some bullshit
Haters grossly exaggerate how off Arnold was in 1980. Yes, he wasn't quite as big as he was in his prime, but he was close, and that was still like 30lbs bigger and more impressive than the next biggest guy on stage. He was also sliced. When you look at the photos it's pretty clear that he should have or at least could have won.
1980 ought to be one of the less controversial Olympia's as far as outcomes are concerned. If you want to see a total shitshow robbery look at 1981. Franco Columbu won that show with gyno and pieces of dogsshit for legs. There are clear instances of fixed shows, but 1980 isn't one of them.
how?? Arnold looks like twice as big in this picture. what is the argument against Arnold's physique here? you could say his legs are too small proportionally, but they're still bigger than Mentzer's in absolute terms.
Every sport is corrupt, the moment subjective judging and money is involved the sport is corrupt.
Brutal.
forced perspective
she's much closer to the camera
>much closer
The man in the middle's pecs are at the level of the woman's waist.
That's obviously the manlet division (212)
damn
ABSOLUTELY MOGGED
Imagine spending all that money on test and drugs just to get mogged by a broad.
It's webms like this that make me feel like I should just kill myself. Being 6'1 I never had a chance to look big.
I'd fuck all three of these manlets and that big bitch with the enormous calves.
nice gains bro but that's too big
roided so hard u got boobs kek
>t.sub 6 inch wrists
is a fair and not corrupt sport
No one, anywhere, ever, has honestly thought this.
The only time it was remotely pure was the bare knuckle era because the fight went on as long as it had to
Fuck I meant boxing, ignore me I'm retarded
Anon, You're supposed to post a pic where Mentzer doesn't look like shit...
Wasn't it unironically invented as a gay fetish?
As in all the gays were buying "muscle mags" for aesthetic purposes, and then the magazines sponsored these competitions?
Certainly, it hardly meets the criteria of ‘sport’ and probably has greater overlap with fetish culture
Bodybuilding has always been a thing
Please kys to inhibit you shitting up the board anymore
I will not harm myself and I will continue to spread the truth on this board. Stay mad.
>Bodybuilding has always been a thing
It's an invention from the 50s

Yes but the first person to use the term "bodybuilding" was Eugen Sandow, himself of israeli origins.
Plato was known for getting up in the middle of an argument and flexing to mog his opponents
all of your heroes did gay for pay.
ugly old poofters nutted in arnold's mouth and he had to swallow it.
it was part of the strongman shows back in the day and split off into thing of its own.
Arnold mogged Manlet Mentzer. Seethe more.

>Brecker
Breker
But I agree with most of what you said
Fascinating, would you mind giving some detail on what nietzsche said about them, or where specificaly i could read more about it?
Her refers to Beethoven multiple times, in The Birth of Tragedy and Genealogy. Always thought the chest/shoulders of this guys statues were peak aesthetics
they literally already refer to eras as bronze age, silver age, and golden age. the golden age refers to when arnold was performing.
>Bodybuilding is an ugly sport
I doubt its a sport at all.
mentzer didn't make top 5 lmfao
Bodybuilding is gay and effeminate, you can't change this.

Fuck yeah
I'm openly bi but I don't like roided bodies
The fact that Dr Mike Israetel never won it all ruins the entire sport for me 2bh
I know that powerlifters consume massive, massive amounts of drugs - still, it seems more honest - it's about moving the weight, not what people think will look good
that said, they can look like absolute shit
powerlifting is not about moving the weight, it is about how to bend the rules to make it seem like you move weight, strongman moves weight

Grow up homosexual if you aren’t a retarded drone you’d realize anything involving humans is corrupt
Mentzer lost because Arnold (amongst others liked better than him). He sperged out and spent the rest of his life seething that he was cheated and anons like OP that don't know anything about bodybuilding got psyoped.
>oiled up homosexuals posing in thongs
>sport
Mentzer looks the worst out of the 4 guys in the front.
Arnold really stood out as the top guy. Zane looks amazing tho.
>Men present themselves before male judges and try to flex and pose in underwear and makeup to make themselves as attractive to the judges as they can then the males judging them rate them on a 1-10 how much they wanna bang them
Bodybuilding is cringe.
This.
Also bodybuilders can't fight (they have awful explosivity and shit tier stamina).
>bodybuilders can't fight
Lol, who gives a shit about fighting? You fucking sperg
Men
Who gives a fuck about looking like the warped perception of manliness that homos have?
So much for the "bronze age mindset" yet you don't care about being a "fit warrior".
How the fuck do roid trannys gain weight easily? On reddit I see guys say " I'm test I'm up 8 pound in one week"
Do they actually eat a lot of food?
Lots of compounds lots of carbs and protein
A lot of it is water bloat, and more glycogen being stored directly in the muscles. A significant amount will be real muscle growth though. They tend to eat a lot more food to fuel the increased muscle growth i.e. they will fill up with shit and also gain fat
The short term (roughly 1 week) weight gain isn't real muscle. That comes later
bodybuilding isn't a sport
seriously dud what's the point ? real bodybuilders don't post here anyway
Mentzer had no chest
What on earth is sporack
golden era arnold god damn
Arnold should have won in 80. Watch Total Rebuild. He is better than every guy on stage. Most people go off pictures and not video. When in poses and comparisons he beats Mentzer even in his 80 shape. If it was his 74 shape it would have been laughable. Now Franco in 81 was some bullshit

>needs judges to make a completely subjective decision for the winner
the worst kind of sport
True.
The criteria for winning should be as clear as possible with no room for ambiguity.
