Are several sets of warm ups really necessary? Isn't just benching the bar for a shitton of reps a sufficient enough as a warm up or should you really do 5 sets with slight weight increase everytime

>5 sets with slight weight increase everytime
who the fuck told you this
just do however reps you want with the bar, if youre doing warm ups for more than 1 set youre doing it very wrong
I see 2platers go -> 1 pl8, add 25, them sets with 2pl8
i like to really focus on the technique when warming up
How I do going up to 315
8reps 135
90sec rest
5reps 225
90sec rest
1 rep 275
2minute rest
315
45 > 135 >185 > 225 > 255 > working sets is usually how I warmup. Just because your max is 155 doesn’t mean actually strong people are doing it wrong
Meant for
youre also retarded
Post bench
Personally what I do:
>1pl8x10
>1.5pl8x5
>2pl8x3
>actual lifts
You'll crush your larynx one of these days and all that lifting will be for nothing.
im doing this shit
2 sets with just the bar
1 set at 20%
1 set at 40%
1 set at 60%
3 sets at 100%
where 100% being the max weight i can do
am i gonna make it?
Fucks no. I've been lifting since I was 13. In that 15 years, not once have I ever warmed up. If you start with anything less than 2 plates youre a fucking closeted homosexual.
My warm up:
Bar > 1 pl8 > 2 pl8 > 2.5 pl8 > 3 pl8 > working sets
Yes, you should warm up with at least a couple, more depending on the weight.
picrel
You could try doing it wennings warmups style.
Just do all your accessories before you do the main lift. You shouldn't have to spend much time building up to your working weight.
I don't personally do these but also I'm not very strong
Also lately I have been feeling warmed up midway through my working sets lately... Only 180lbs 5x5 and amrap the last set. Am I not warming up enough? I've been trying not to waste a ton of energy before getting to my working sets. Is this normal?
Depends on the weight. Most people usually start at one plate, then add a plate until they reach their working weight.
So if you bench 225 for reps, you really only need like 1 warmup set.
>all these losers pretending that they casually bench 3pl8 for reps
It's a good idea to warm up with some weight on the bar. Underlying tendon tightness/issues could be there that isn't apparent if you just do a bunch of reps with the bar. It's just good to clue yourself in to exactly how your body is feeling.
