I only drink once a month now. Used to drink almost nightly due to extreme anxiety that would give me terrible insomnia. Hooch was the only thing that could get me relaxed enough to sleep. Worst years of my life by a pretty wide margin. Booze is a treat, like any other break from the routine. Christ I love Rum though.
i quit in december last year and the fat has fallen off me and i look better than ever, i also sleep better, eat less, nofap is easy and everything is generally much improved
Not OP but unless you’re drinking when you wake up or throughout the day you can quit cold turkey it just sucks. I did it last week after four years of nightly drinking I had night sweats and shit sleep but i relapsed like a loser trying again today. Just keep yourself busy boredom is dangerous
I do drink. I’ve been trying to cut back and I’ve been mostly pretty successful in that regard. It’s a gains goblin, but I have no plans on giving it up entirely. Just need to keep it in moderation.
As long as you're not drinking inordinate amounts of alcohol on a daily basis your gains won't be affected, and by that point youd have bigger problems than gains, such as why the man living in the walls keeps threatening you.
For the lighter daily drinker, it depends on how it affects your sleep. Alcohol can fuck with your cycle, either because it disrupts you're deeper sleep phases or you can't sleep cuz you got the spins.
You know, if you're pretty well drunk 2 hours before bed, it's time to stop drinking. You'll sleep better.
It has cut my bulk short before because of gaining too much weight too fast. It makes me lose inhibitions in regards to food. Ironically, during a cut a night of binge drinking only sets me back a couple of days at most, it's easier to not eat at all than to try to eat the right amount.
I drink whiskey/rum if I don’t fall asleep before 12. So maybe 1-2 times a week. I don’t care if it slightly kills gains. It’s one of life’s little enjoyments to sip whiskey on the patio listening to the forest
>turn 30 >think "I never drank my whole life" >start getting beers on weekends, about 3-4 tall cans every saturday >goes great first, have fun every time just watching movies or w/e, like the taste, feel like i've been missing out >half a year after >catch myself feeling that i'm barely having fun anymore >get more and more picky about beer, don't even want it when weekend comes >don't even feel that relaxed anymore when drinking >my 3-4 tall cans seems to bring less and less fun, just gets me intoxicated and all >realize I feel much darker about everything in life, never felt like this before >feel that the only real "way forward" is either more beer, stronger beer, or eventually just bourbon etc. >don't want to be like alcoholics on IST who down 8% beer every day
I quit shortly after that
It does kill your gains. The primary mechanisms are a) fat deposition and b) testosterone killing. Binge drinking absolutely murders your test. It also causes calories to be preferentially deposited as fat if you eat while drinking. Calories in/out still counts, but you've got to go through the BS of mobilizing these fat stores to burn them, and fat by itself is an estrogenic and test damaging compound (as adipose, not dietary ofc).
I drink 2-3 beers a night which I'm working on cutting back to 0-1. I used to drink 4+ when I was in the army. Every single day. I got fat so now I don't do that.
I used to, then cut down during the lockdowns, and now rarely have any at all. It's expensive and fattening. I also have less tolerance for venues full of loud, overemotional drunken people.

I don't drink often now but I am absolutely litty right now
Getting drunk regularly is mostly a coping mechanism for some kind of fucked up thing that happened in the past
>some kind of fucked up thing that happened in the past

Ive been a hardcore alcohol for the last 10 years. Ive tried eveything. It doesnt work. Maybe its time to reroll.
It usually doesnt do too much besides excess fat but lately i think its been making it harder for my body to recover so im gonna take a shirt break
how often are you shirtless?
It nukes muscle protein synthesis so yeah
